Pempek kapal selam (submarine-shaped pempek!)! I love this simple Indonesian fish cake meal that is of Palembang, Sumatra origin. I usually go to 'Pempek Megaria' to have it; best-tasting in all of Jakarta!

A Sneak Peek at Indonesia Consumer Fair 2004
by Farah 'Fairy' Mahdzan (29-Apr-2004) | Readers Say

Recently I met up with Gupta from Singapore and Rini from Jakarta, the folks who organized the Discover Indonesia exhibition last year which I wrote a review about. They both came across my website a few months ago and were keen to meet me. So since Gupta and Rini are in Kuala Lumpur organizing this upcoming Indonesia Consumer Fair in Midvalley Mall, we met up and chatted about everything under the sun and moon about the exhibition industry and promoting Indonesia to neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore.

The Indonesia Consumer Fair is opening today (29-Apr-04) at Midvalley Mall in Kuala Lumpur and will end on Monday (3-May-04). I was invited by Rini and Gupta to drop by the exhibition hall last night to see everything being set up. I was also joined by five new Indonesian friends whom I met over the weekend at an event which I will share with you in an upcoming new story.

This consumer fair aims to attact more visitors from Malaysia to come visit Indonesia. I think it's a brilliant marketing strategy considering Malaysia has opened up some very affordable options of flying to Indonesia, Air Asia's in particular!

Here are some photos I took at the exhibition hall last night while everyone was hammering away and busy scurrying about to decorating their booths.

Datang ya ke fairnya, teman-teman semua!

Dada, kita pulang dulu...!

#9. Wow! You made me sangat teringin untuk pergi ke Indonesia. Told my hubby that we should go.. but could not find the right time yet. I think I'll go to the exhibition at Mid Valley. Hope to see u there! Should we wear buttons that say's "We heard this from Fairy" or "Fairy's Fan Club" or something to that effect so that we can recognised each other? Because I really want to meet those names that frequently post their comments here.

Just a thought.. mungkin terlalu last minute now. Next time maybe.
