Hi, Everybody My name is Idwan. I live in Jakarta. I'm a teacher trainer and I work for one of the Language Institutes in Jakarta. I think this site is really amazing. Being born and raised in West Sumatra, I've always thought that Indonesia and Malaysia are indeed of one cultural heritage and; therefore, there should be a strong bond between the two peoples. Hi Mr. Mahdzan, allow me to introduce myself. I am Ichwan from Depok, Jawa Barat. After reading many parts of your website, I must say that I am impressed of it. As you might see, there have been intense tensions between both our countries. I browsed through the net and I found a lot of personal sites/blogs mocking each other, Indonesians mocking Malaysia, and Malaysians mocking Indonesia using rude and vulgar languages to the point that I swear, if among these people were chosen as the leader of their home country, they will declare an open war! That's completely awful and we might wonder how some people waste a lot of their time to insult another nation in a pointless debate. Of course, as an Indonesian, I love my country (and I'm sure you love Malaysia too). But I totally dislike the opinion that to show my love to my country I have to insult another nation, including Malaysia. I have a Malaysian friend, who is very friendly, and we have been communicating for quite some time through e-mails. Most of the time she tells about her life (she lives in Alor Setar, Kedah), her family, etc, and asks me how’s things in my country, and in return I tell her all about me. Even to the point that we use some words incomprehensible to another (I write her using Indonesian, and she writes me using Malay), we would very happily explain the words. No mocking, no insulting, no ‘Indon’, no ‘Malingsia’, etc! We are really good friends! Reading your notes is a total relief and inspiring . Finally I have found another Malaysian speaks in common sense rather than using blind emotions. I am positive though that most Indonesians and Malaysians have positive attitude each other (aside of some irritating issues, but that’s normal as siblings right?), those who are busy occupying themselves in pointless insult and hatred are simply a very small number of irresponsible people who don’t want to see both countries live in peace side by side I am sure you will agree that both Indonesia and Malaysia in general have its own strengths and weaknesses. Some points favour Malaysia, and some points favour Indonesia. Indonesia and Malaysia have been through hard times in their relationship, but hopefully all will remember that both countries are siblings! Like any siblings throughout the world, they may have different perspectives and conflicts are often inevitable, but they actually love each other, being born in one family! I envy you, you have visited Indonesia. I haven’t visited Malaysia unless for a short half-an hour transit in KLIA on my way to Amsterdam. Hopefully things will get easier if I make the visit someday, thanks to AirAsia who introduced the motto ‘now anyone can fly’ Who knows we could see each other in person, where we could have good talks about anything good in both our countries!Thanks, Mr. Mahdzan, keep up the good works! Hi Read your article on Kampung Weddings. It was really interesting and the pictures were excellent. I have been trying for ages to find out what the little hand washing tea pots are called as I really want to buy one. I know this is a long shot but I wouls be really gratful if you could tell me how I can buy a kendi (like the one in the picture) online. I am based in the UK so a someone who would post to England would be good. I hope you will be able to help me as I have been searching for this item for four months since I visited Malaysia and Singapore. Stupidly I did not buy one whilst I was out there and now cannot see where I can buy one oneline. Please help, if you can. It would eb greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your help.
